Benjamin's father was Brannick Benjamin Riggs, born 21 October 1867 at Fort Riggs in Bandera County, Texas. He died in El Paso, El Paso County, Texas on 19 March 1913 and is buried in the El Paso Cemetery.

Benjamin's mother was Martha Alfretta (Smith) Riggs, born on 02 December 1876 in Randolph, Rich County, Utah. She died in Benson, Cochise County, Arizona on 04 December 1958 and is buried in the St. David Cemetery, Cochise County, Arizona.

Brannick and Martha were married on 16 November 1896 in Willcox, Cochise County, Arizona and had seven children. BENJAMIN was their second child, first son.
