WALT's mother was Martha Alfretta (Smith) Riggs, born on 02 December 1876 in Randolph, Rich County, Utah. She died in Benson, Cochise County, Arizona on 14 December 1958 and is buried in the St. David Cemetery, Cochise County, Arizona.

Brannick and Martha were married on 16 November 1896 in Willcox, Cochise County, Arizona and had seven children. WALTER was their third child, second son.
