TEACHERS FOR THE RIGGS FAMILY

SCHOOLHOUSE BUILT AT THE RIGGS HOME RANCH FOR RIGGS FAMILY MEMBERS. THIS WAS THE FIRST SCHOOLHOUSE BUILT IN ARIZONA TERRITORY BY THE BRANNICK RIGGS FAMILY.

Construction of the schoolhouse started in 18xx and was completed in 1882. Riggs Home Ranch School was used until the El Dorado School was built in 1900.

THE FOLLOWING WERE TEACHERS WHO TAUGHT AT THE RIGGS HOME RANCH SCHOOLHOUSE

1883 - 1884 and 1884 - 1885: Ida Berry Lillie (married William M. Riggs on January 3 or 8 (being researched), 1884).
1885 - 1886: T.B. Stark (married Martha Riggs on December 20, 1886).
1886 - 1887 ?, The date is being researched: Eula Lee Murray (married Thomas J. Riggs on July 11, 1883).
1894 - 1895: Mary Frances Riggs (married William A. Stark on December 31, 1896).

 

SCHOOLHOUSE BUILT AT EL DORADO IN THE RIGGS SETTLEMENT FOR RIGGS FAMILY MEMBERS AND NEIGHBORS. THIS WAS THE SECOND SCHOOLHOUSE BUILT IN ARIZONA TERRITORY BY THE BRANNICK RIGGS FAMILY.

Construction started around January 2, 1900 and was completed in time to move in on December 3, 1900.
El Dorado became a school district in Cochise County in 1890 and remained a district until 1965.
It was the El Dorado District #16.
