John and Nettie were married on 03 March 1910 in Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, Ohio and had four children. Ellerbe was their third child, third son.

ISLA PEARL (CHAMBERS) RIGGS was born on 29 December 1921 in Dragoon, Cochise County, Arizona. She died in Willcox, Cochise County, Arizona on 18 September 2007 and is buried in the Riggs Family Cemetery.
